Color
Coloring books are not just for kids. Studies show that adult coloring can help reduce stress and anxiety. Plus your kids will be thrilled that you have joined them in one of their favorite past time. Note that adult coloring books with more complicated patterns can be more therapeutic.
Journal
Meditate
The many benefits of meditation are scientifically proven. Regular meditation practice reduces stress, lowers blood pressure and promotes emotional health. There are many ways to learn how to meditate. Tools with free options such as Headspace, and online videos such as the one below, allow you to explore and learn what works for you.
Walk
Walking is an excellent form of exercise. The only preparation that is necessary is to put on your walking shoes. Worst case scenario you can walk around your home or on a treadmill. Physical health benefits of walking include improved cardiovascular fitness and build strong bones. Walking allow you to get outdoors which in itself provide it’s own benefits. Try to get outside as often as possible. This can be a fun activity with or without the kids.
In addition, a pedometer can help you keep track of your steps if you choose to do that.
Read
Lose yourself in a mystery, action-adventure or romance novel. It can’t hurt to forget your troubles for about 30 minutes and read a book. Reading allows you to explore new places and have new experiences without leaving the comfort of your home. Reading also expands your knowledge and relaxes your mind. Start reading today. If you don’t already have books at your disposal, try Amazon Kindle Unlimited, Internet Archive or Google Play. If you really don’t like reading, try listening instead.
