It takes a lot of strength, perseverance, and longsuffering to beat addiction. But you can’t do it alone. Brenda shares her story of addiction and recovery in this episode.
Many of us use different methods to cover the pain we feel. Brenda said she tried to use alcohol to dull the pain that engulfed her after she found herself alone with her two sons. But living her authentic self became more important than the next drink. So was caring for her children.
Brenda not only kicked addiction. She also spends a lot of her time mentoring other solo moms who are looking to change from a life of addiction as well.
“Nobody stay recovered unless the life they have created is more rewarding and satisfying than the one they left behind.” ~~ Anne Fletcher
We all have struggles. Raising kids solo brings some unique challenges. But moms like Brenda have learned to rise about the darkness that threatens to pull them under. One way moms push through their challenges is to be mindful that their children depend on them. Another way is to believe that God loves you. That He considers you his responsibility. A responsibility He takes very seriously.
