Can you be married but still be a solo mom? In lots of cases, yes. One mom tells her story on the most recent episode of SoloMoms! Talk podcast.
We are often faced with challenges for which we are not prepared. Life can blind side us at the most inopportune time. And really, when is it a perfect time to have problems?
Yet solo moms deal with all types of challenges all the time. It’s not that we are special in attracting challenges. However, the family model was designed for two responsible adults to raise children. I may get a lot of blow back to say this but I stand by my statement.
So when we have a foundation and that foundation is shaken by death, divorce or even the lack of participation of the other parent, life can get downright challenging.
Still solo moms have successfully raised children by exercising grit, determination, and a sometimes wavering faith. Life can be tough but for those of us who believe we grind through the hurt, pain, and lack of self worth. We come out on the other end with children who are grateful for the hard work we put into their lives.
You succeed by raising your children, mostly alone, despite the odds being stacked against you.
In the end, what mattered was that you never gave up but you persevered…even in unbroken pieces. Solo moms, you freaking rock!!!
